January Trips!

We have really enjoyed Doug's new schedule of having every other Friday off. In January we were able to make a few trips and it was great being able to leave on Thursday evening instead of Friday evening. On January 20th, Doug's cousin Ronald passed away. He was born with a mental handicap and has not had great health especially since coming down with pneumonia a few years ago. He was 55 years old when he died. The funeral was in St. George, which worked out great for us. My grandpa lives in Las Vegas and Doug and the kids have never had the chance to meet him. So we headed for Vegas early Friday morning, picked up my Aunt Cindy in North Las Vegas, and then went to see my grandpa who is in a care center. It was a good visit and I am so glad that I finally got to see him after about 7 years. We then went to my Uncle Dennis's house in Henderson and visited with him also. We stayed at Cindy's house and then headed early Saturday morning, January 24th, to St. George for Ronald's funeral services. It was great to see lots of family. I really enjoyed the services and was grateful to hear about Ronald and his life. He was a very special person and had made a difference to several people. After the services, we headed home. It was a quick trip and exhausting, but it was a great trip.

Doug's next Friday off, we headed to Colorado with my parents and sister Kalie to help my oldest sister Mendy with their house they just bought. I watched the kids while everyone else worked hard hanging sheetrock, and doing other repairs. They were able to get a lot done, but Mendy and Darren still had lots of work to do. The next weekend they came to Utah to purchase supplies. They got some great deals and was quite excited with how much money they had saved buying things here instead the town they live in Colorado. It was great to see so much family!
