Well I am not sure who was more excited for Jacob's first wrestling venture, Doug or Jacob. We signed Jacob up for Little Vikes Wrestling which was the last two weeks in October and the first week in November. They had four practices and then a tournament.Jacob was the youngest and smallest one there, but he really did great. There were other four year olds that started about, but Jacob was the only one that finished.
He did a great job paying attention and learning what the coaches were teaching him. The Viewmont Highschool wrestling team coach, who Doug found out wrestled with Doug's brother Jeff at Ricks college, ran the program and all of the high school wrestlers helped. Jacob really seemed to enjoy it and it was fun watching him! I think next year he will do better, especially if he has kids closer to his own age to wrestle. He is 4 right now and he was wreslting 6 and 7 year olds that were a bit bigger then him. He needs to figure out still what to do when he is one top of someone and can pin them. I think he thinks once he is on top, he is done, so he jumps up and does a cartwheel. It was pretty entertaining to watch! At his tournament Grandpa and Grandma Bird, Aunt Camillia and Uncle Spencer, and our neighbors The Ingles all came to watch and cheer Jacob on. This video is his first match, wrestling against a 6 year old.
